E-numbers in food is meant to be safe as they have been approved for use in the EU. This is according to research which was done by the food standards agency.

The most common been, E102-tartrazine, E104-quinolone yellow, E110-sunset yellow FCF, E122-carmoisine, E124-Ponceau 4R and E129-allure red.

Any of these E-numbers what are food colours are included in any food items they must be written on the label either in their full name or the E-number, as well as a warning to warn people that these colours may have an adverse effect on children with ADHD as it can have effects on children activity and attention.

E-numbers are used to enhance the colour, flavour, texture and even to prevent some foods from spoiling. The E itself on packaging stands for Europe.

There are over 300 E-numbers some of which are essential for our health E300-known as vitamin C, E101 more commonly known as vitamin B2 and E948 known as oxygen. One of the most common Additive E410 comes from the carob tree, E471 is sourced from modified soya beans.

E412 is a thickener which has been taken from the gaur seed and there is an E number which is derives from seaweed known as E407.
